DETROIT!!

When people think of Detroit it can get a bad rap. Unless you have lived here your whole life then you just except Detroit for what it is. I found Detroit's beauty by going down to the river walk by the Ren-Cen. They had a festival going on so there was lots of extra activity.

I went down there with my friend Ross and fellow Flickr friends. Who & What are Flickr friends. We are a group of photographers that make up a local group called Exposure Detroit. This group is on FLICR a photography hosting website. It may sound a little geeky but when you get to meet and talk to people who share your passion its really great!!

Beautiful

Sometimes I get to take photos of grown-ups. And sometimes I get to take pictures of very hot sizzling grown-ups! This was definitely the case when I photographed the sexy Miss D. (Now I can only show a few photos here & on my site. One, I try to make my site PG & also because I advertise in my church paper!!)But let me just say that all of her photos were just beautiful!

I babysat my nephew a couple of weeks before. I thought It would be fun to bring out some finger paint. We had a good time. The picture that I took I displayed at the gallery at the Look3 festival. The picture is in the blog a couple post down.

Linda & David's Wedding

I have put the finishing touches on Linda & David's Wedding. I hope they like them! It was a beautiful wedding.

Look3 Festival of the Photograph

Anthony & I headed out to Charlotteville, Va. For an amazing festival that features ... you guessed it, photography. The 3 key speakers for this years festival was Mary Ellen Mark, Joel Peter Witkin, & James Nachtwey. This was all very seriously talented stuff. One of the sponsers was National Geographic Magazine. Detroit Festival of the Arts

The Detroit Festival of the Arts was June 6th - 8th. Unfortunately we were not able to go untill Sunday evening. After a big storm went through. But some thing were still going on & holding there own. Even this giant sand sculpture!! Unfortunately when we did get home the power was off!

Yes, the dog comes too!

I had two beautiful fun families June 6 & 7th. Its always nice to get the parents in on the pictures. The family dogs too!!!

Slim Cesna

Hmmm... Don't know if I spelled this right. Anyways this very fun & interesting band played at the Crofoot on June 4th. They have great stage presence & always give the audience what they want.

Is there a Doctor in the house?!

I had the privaldge of photographing a group of doctors that work at Silver Pines offices. It was a challenge to photograph such a large group. They were all really nice & funny. In fact one was my Doctor! I didn't realize it a first. I had only been to her once. (knock on wood) But the name was ratteling around in me head. Then it finally dawned on me where I knew her from. DUH!!

Ketch-up

I'm a bit behind on my blogging. So much has been going on. Part of the delay is that we had a pretty powerful storm roll through here On June 8th & knocked out the power for 3 days! I personally enjoyed the silence. My boyfriend Anthony couldn't handle not having the TV on! So let me start .....

What else do you do??

What other type of activities do I do? I have recently joined a Church Youth Group. I thought this would be a great way to be a positive influence on kids today. We do all sorts of activities. Last week it was enjoying the weather & eating s'mores...mmmmmyummy!!! Perhaps I can even inspire some new photographers. Because you know I am still photographing even on my day off!!

what if....?

You will often find that when you plan on having me over for your photo session, your children don't take their naps at the scheduled time, that they always take their naps. Or now they have a scratch on their face. Well please do not fret!! We can get through this, I promise. Even when parents have little faith, I surprise them with how great the shoot/photographs turned out.

So with this shoot I did use my photography skills to cover a bump & a scratch. But you would never know it. Not only that, they are children there will be many of these! As for the nap? I am pretty sure they will be ready for one when I leave. :P
