What day is it???.... Hahaha I have finally come out of my editing room after an intense August full of weddings and portrait session!! What a wonderful month it was so full of love & fun!
So let me start with Heather & Scott. Their wedding was held at the Detroit Opra House and yea... that was really cool. But it really didn't hold a candle to how cool the couple was. They just ooozed coolness. To the bride redesining a vintage dress & making her own bouque to the groom playing a little tune on the piano for his bride in a private room. Their shared jokes and laughter & sweet looks at each other was just a honor to catch in person & in preserving it all in photographs. Much love & harmony to you both!

The bride was radient, the groom handsome & their church of choice, Ste. Anne of Detroit is a favorite of mine. We only had a moment to hit Comerica Park & the Fox, cuz the traffic was crazy!! This session was soooooo much fun! I love photographing models. They know how to move how to "make love to the camera". LOL for the lack of a better term. They just work for the best shot. The weather was perfect, the church was beautiful, the wedding party was fun, & the Bride & Groom were just glowing with love! David & Megan's wedding was just lovely they had plenty of singing at the reception where if the guests wanted the couple to kiss the table had to sing a song for them... with the words of love in it. Later the Groom seranaded his bride & then was joined by family & friends to sing to the guests. I am sure their marraige will never be out of tune! Much love & happiness to your future!

I have had the pleasure of taking photos of big brother in the past. So it was wonderful to greet the newest additon to the family. Baby L was such an angel. She even tolerated my first attempt of an Anne Geddes idea. Then after a moment or two she thought it was more fun to eat the props!
So if you have a little one... bring them to our studio. We have lots of props to try out. Some may even taste good too!

Seattle Vacation

I went on vacation to Seattle to visit family. Normally I go overboard on photography when I visit a place I have never been. But when you travel with a 1 1/2 yr old; I had to streamline my gear. Not only that, when taking a photo, you have to have one eye on your subject & the other on the kid. Wishing I was a gecko or some other type of lizard!

The place is super swank from an era gone by. Colleen & Jeff are just the cool cats to make this the perfect place to have a party. There was a Tiki theme to their get together. Sarah & Ryan's wedding had this photographer on her toes. First you had to take a ferry to get to Harsens Island followed by a second boat to get to the Grooms parents cottage.And let me tell you about the weather! First we started off with extremely grey weather with a bit of rain, too bad that didn't even cool things off. It was so humid we were all sweating. Except for the Bride, of course, who looked beautiful & cool as a cucumber!The wedding had to be in the tent instead of the dock. But by the time pictures were to be taken the rain had stopped. Of course then the sun finally showed up by the end of the portraits. The crazy weather conditions couldn't stop the fun at this wedding. It truly had a great vibe to it. Everybody was enjoying themselves. If this is the start of your married life, then you guys will have a very fun happily ever after!!

I did a mini-session for Green Baby in Rochester, Michigan. We fit in 24, 15 minute session in 2days. Whew!!! It was crazy & fun all in one breath. Normally I like to get to talk to the kids. They like to see me set up, or ask me questions, or we get to see their toys & stuff. I like to talk to the Mom's for a bit, so they don't think I am a total stranger. So this was a little bit out of the norm for me. I really don't know how "Babies R Us" does it? I really like getting to know my clients. Baby M was ready for the world 2 months early. So even thou it was her 3 month portrait session she was still pretty tiny. Her little personality was already beaming through. She had a no touch hand policy that she strictly enforced on me with her little stubbornness when I tried to move them! And she even rolled over, on me. Whoa!! Movement... what's that? Well its the best place you can dance your butt off & its not even bar hours!!

Its a 3 day weekend that features top djs from around the world that specialize in techno, drum & bass, house, & many more delicious beats that will make you shake your booty! The event has corporate sponsors, like Vitamin Water & Ford. This takes place at Heart Plaza in Detroit, every Memorial weekend for the past 10 years!

I have gone almost every year. This year was no exception...even the rain on Monday didn't keep me away! I was only able to make it for a short time this year, but it was worth every second. As I was able to catch Stacey Pullen's set from the Main stage! Whoo hoo!!!!

If you have never been... go! Its great people watching, awesome rhythms, & better exercise than the gym!

Memorial weekend

what a fabulous weekend! I had 2 engagement shoots, a family picnic, Detroits Movement festival, a boudior session, and my brother left for Texas... whew!!
I want to share with you first about my brother. He is in the service for the Army. Trying to get his life together, but hasn't had much luck in the job market. He has been itching to go to Texas where he was once stationed. My family was secretly hoping that he would stay in Michigan. But with little options he packed his bags & headed down south. We will miss him terribly. He is my little brother, always will be. Wishing you much luck in your state, but remember your always welcomed home. I love you!!! Here are some photos of that day...

Michigan Humane Society - Bow Wow Brunch

Normally you wouldn't want your mimosa to have fur floating in it. But for this event held at The Ritz-Carlton, in Dearborn, It would have been welcomed!! Michigan Humane Society held its 21st Annual BOW WOW BRUNCH, on Sunday April 18. There was a silent & live auction with awesome items up for bit like, a ride on a vintage jet with Bob Lutz as your pilot, or something for the whole family to enjoy like, going to a Tigers game or feeding the Penguins the Detroit zoo!! The dinner was fabulous & listening to the accomplishments that MHS as achieved this year was heartwarming. 6 months is my absolute favorite time to photograph a child... Or when they can sit by themselves for a little bit before falling over ;) I was called over to photograph little J for his close up. I had taken photos of his sister at 6 month & the family wanted me to do his as well. He was such an easy going kid with a great smile & beautiful blue eyes. The day actually got quite warm so we took him out on the deck to enjoy some sun on his back & I got some really fun photos there!! The family mentioned they wanted me back when he turns a year. Ying & Gerry's Wedding - Dearborn

Ying & Gerry's wedding was my first wedding this year. So I was pretty excited to start the wedding season again. Ying & Gerry are very sweet people. They have had a couple of funny incidents leading up to the big day. Like Gerry getting a plate of pasta spilled down him back at the rehearsal dinner & Ying getting pulled over by the cops on the way back from the salon to get ready. (the cop didn't give her a ticket!)
The rest of their day was beautiful & easy going. They celebrated their union at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dearborn then the rehearsal dinner was there as well. I must say it was a very beautiful church & hall. By the way, the priest told me a did a very good job of being discreet while photographing & that he really appreciated that. :) yea me!!! They didn't do any dancing but they did have a mariachi band & a 4 piece string quartet. Plus after the ceremony Ying chanced into a beautiful traditional Chinese red dress, mailed from her mother who could not be there.

Ahhhh vacation....

Well its been a couple of days that the baby & I are back from vacationing in Florida visiting my parents. The first week of weather was aweful. The second week was wonderful. Xavier & I hung out at the pool, and my parents took us on all sorts of little adventures. Of course his grandparents spoiled him silly. So now we are home & I am ready to get back to work on some new adventures in photography. I will be having some of my photos on the walls of Bean & Leaf Cafe in Rochester! Also in Rochester I will be taking photos at the Green Baby store. To help celebrate Earth day we will be doing some type of promo. Don't have all the details yet... but I will keep you posted!!
In the meantime Xavier & I will be thinking about our sunny days in Florida & hoping Michigan's sun will stay out for awhile!!

Just 10 days after giving birth to my son,(I thought he was going to be born sooner) I photographed Dayna & Roman's wedding. With vicodin in hand I am so glad I did. This summer I have been so busy. Its been a great wedding season for me. I enjoyed photographing all the happy couples celebrating their love with marriage. I am now photographing seniors & families enjoying the last bit that summer has to offer.

Lauren & Ben are such a fun couple that their whole day was one big party. The reception was held at Kensington Church. It started with an emotional send off from her father to the large bridal party dancing down the isle. We only had a minute to spare between the church & the hall so we made a quick stop at their favorite Rochester hangout Gus O'conners for a quick picture & drop of drink. The reception hall was pretty in pink at La Salas of Rochester. Lauren & Ben danced all night long & so did their wedding party. What a fun night! Good luck to your future, I know the party is just getting started!!!

Of course they can when that Lion is Detroit linebacker Ernie Sims!!
Ernie loves animals and lend a helping hand to the Michigan Humane Society by joining the men & woman who love to donate to a great cause & also love to golf too.

The event was be held on Monday, June 8 at the exclusive Forest Lake Country Club in Bloomfield Hills which features a mature 18-hole championship golf course, incredible scenery and first class amenities.

The day started out pretty wet. But it didn't stop these true die-hard! Now I won't comment on Ernie's golfing abilities. But let's just say I am glad his sport is Football!!

For Candis & Matthew we drove to Belle Isle. On the way there I was able to get to hear how they met & their first date. (Your so romantic Matt! lol) It was such a beautiful sunny day. Belle Isle offers lots of structures to pose around. Our biggest challenge was trying to find some shade so that they didn't have to squint!! I will be photographing their wedding in August.

My Uncle Joe, aka Tio Joe. Has passed on May 16th 2009.
He was a man full of keeping his Hispanic heritage & family values strong. He taught Spanish at U of D high school for 30 years. In which he was respectably called Senor, served in the Marines, and was very socially active. There is so much to say about my Uncle but most of which is that he will be truly missed by me and those that have met him.

What I did on my Spring vacation

In April I was fortunate enough to visit my parents in Florida,
along with my sister & her children. We had great weather & good times. Of course as a photographer the photos never end. I have a ton to go through from the trip. And can't wait to show you more. All about the cake!

A couple of things before I get to the sweet stuff....
A friend of mine put out a request looking for a 2nd photographer. Due to this crazy weather her 2nd got sick. So she had at least 6 other photographer that were ready to help her out. She chose me. (Thank you) Its really nice to know that there are people out there that have your back!
For this up & coming photographer, Nickki, it was her 2nd wedding she photographed. So hopefully I was able to help her out with some tips for this event.

Ok now the cake.... We always start out with a beautiful cake. There are so many different flavors & I make sure to take plenty of photos of it.In this case the bridesmaid made it for the couple. But the real anticipation is what will the bride & groom do? Will they be delicate, or go crazy. I always secretly hope for the icing up the nose, hehe. This couple didn't disappoint. Up the nose it went. I sure hope it tasted good too!!

Lauren & Ben are a very cute & fun couple. We had a great time walking around the downtown area of Rochester. I always encourage my couples to make sure their photos are about them. And Lauren & Ben listened! We started our session with a beer at one of their favorite drinking holes & ended the day with getting their doggie, Taylor.
They will be getting married in May. We had so much fun today, the wedding will be a blast. Congrats to you!!!

I traveled to Chicago In January with my talented friend Allison to capture Marisol & Jim's Wedding. It was an emotional day filled family & friends. Guests enjoyed a night filled with mouthwatering signature hors d’oeuvres and desserts from some of the best chefs Metro Detroit has to offer. Entertainment was provided by the James Robinson Jazz Trio, Arthur Murray’s Dance Studio, Club Yesterday’s Dancers and the Chateau Band. The silent auction was a success due to the many generous supporters who donated some wonderful items. And to top it off, Charles Pugh from FOX 2 News was the Master of Ceremonies!

During the winter its a little bit slower for my photography. It gives me a little bit of a break and lets me regroup & plan accordingly for the Spring ahead. I have also ordered one coffee table album & will be ordering another style to offer my clients.

I am finally tweaking some older photos and found these & wanted to share this with you. Before I became a full time photographer, 1 1/2yrs ago. I was working at Ford Motor Company, Van Dyke Plant. For the 13 years that I worked there I made transmissions, & I thank Ford for the opportunities it has given me. The pictures I am showing are just some of the guys that I worked with side by side or have known for 13 years. Its hard when we hear about the problems that the auto industries are facing. And we can automatically blame the big guys. But its the little guys that get it the hardest. I wish I had more pictures to show you some of the fantastic people that I had known during those years. I feel very blessed, lucky & grateful, and wanted to share that with you!!

St. Anastasia's Christmas Ball 2008

St. Anastasia holds an annual charity Christmas Ball. All proceeds go directly to St. Aloysius Outreach Center in Detroit. St. Aloysius is run by the Franciscan Friars who reach out to feed, clothe, and counsel over 2000 in need each week. The Ball was beautifully decorated. The band played, people danced & mostly people gave to people in need.

Actually this wasn't John & Michelles wedding. They were lucky enough to have their wedding in beautifully warm Mexico. I was able to capture their Michigan celebrations with their extended family. This growing family took advantage of the fact that I come to their house. With ages ranging from 2 weeks to 14 years. They were able to play in familiar surroundings until their turn was next.
